TIERs launched MAP 1.0 to address negative perceptions of Nigeria’s LGBTQI+ community following a mass arrest in Delta State. Sixteen young LGBTQI+ creatives were selected from a pool of 44 applicants. The program featured a 5-day workshop, a three-month mentorship phase, and the production of seven capstone projects, including short films on queer rights, documentaries exploring fatphobia and transphobia, and a Wikipedia archive documenting LGBTQ+ creatives. The initiative concluded with a graduation ceremony in December 2023, equipping a new cohort of queer media professionals with the skills and confidence to tell their stories.
In 2024, MAP 2.0 expanded into the tech sector through a partnership with a leading training institution offering globally recognised courses. Fifteen LGBTQIA+ individuals aged 18 to 29 received full scholarships for year-long programs in Data Science, Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing, and related fields. The initiative also included mentorship, career development support, and internship placements, alongside regular check-ins to ensure holistic participant support and accountability.
