Today, we join communities around the world to mark International Family Equality Day (IFED). A day to celebrate the rich diversity of families and to affirm that every family deserves respect, protection, and equality.

From queer parents, single parents and chosen families to blended, adoptive, and multigenerational homes, families come in many beautiful forms. Each cherished member is part of a colourful whole and what unites them is love, care, and commitment to each other —not societal conformity.

Around the world, the experiences of queer or “rainbow families” vary greatly—shaped not just by country, but by neighbourhood. While some enjoy equal rights and recognition, many still face discrimination and the threat of violence.

International Family Equality Day (IFED) shines a light on these realities, calling on leaders and communities to ensure equal treatment and recognition for all families, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

At TIERs, we believe that no family should face discrimination because of who they are.

Through sensitization meetings and advocacy, TIERS is creating spaces for families and friends to better understand and support minority groups.

We are hopeful for a world where all families—especially queer families—can thrive, feel safe, and be seen. Today, and every day, we honour the strength, resilience, and joy of families across the spectrum.

Happy International Family Equality Day! 💛🏳️‍🌈
